We were asked by a college if there were any plans for a Linux version of EduApps. They had invested in a number of netbooks for students which came with a Linux OS, but limited number of applications. They had thought EduApps would be an ideal solution to their problems.
Before we answering, we wanted to find out a bit more about their situation. We discovered that the netbooks had been using a customised version of the Xandros Linux distribution, which made it difficult to add new applications. However, Martin noted that it was possible to disable the customised interface and revert back to a standard desktop which allowed new applications to be added.
However, in response to the original question, we haven't really explored the possibility of a Linux version of EduApps. There are some projects looking at this if you're interested:
- www.portools.com (this has run into a couple of problems)

If anyone has any additional information or an interest in a Linux version of EduApps, then we'd be delighted to hear from you.
